What is the AIPP Grand Trophy Award?

The AIPP Grand Trophy Award is a hairdressing photography and presentation contest sponsored by the AIPP (International Professional Hairdressing Magazines Association).

Our member publications receive thousands of photographs and press-packs each year. The intention of the Grand Trophy Award is to recognise outstanding achievement by professional hairdressers in photography and presentation of their work.

Entries are judged by a panel of hairdressing magazine editors, world-class hairdressers and fashion photographers.

Award Categories

Best Avant-Garde Fashion Collection: recognising work which has researched new, original, futuristic ideas.
Best Commercial Collection: for styles which are easy to wear and simple to re-style.
Best Photo: for the collection composed of the best pictures from the point of view of variety and attention to detail.
Best Men’s collection: in recognition of the marked increase in interest in men’s hair fashion
Best Video (NEW!!!): We just decided to change the content of the Press Pack award, not asking anymore for a press release/pack, but instead of this, and considering the superb promotional videos that more and more hairdressers are developing each year, we ask for a video/clip no longer than 3 minutes promoting a hairdresser/hair fashion collection.

The GRAND TROPHY is then awarded to the over-all winner, the creator of the collection which best reflects all the characteristics described in each of the single categories.

All those winning for each category compete for the GRAND TROPHY by sending their Autum-Winter collections.

History

The Grand Trophy of the Professional Press is most certainly the event which provokes the most interest out of the association’s activities. The event was established in 1997 with the objective of awarding an annual prize to the best Spring/Summer hair fashion collection chosen by a jury composed of publishers associated with AIPP.
