Paris, 23 September 2007 --- The 2007-2008 AIPP Awards Ceremony was held on Saturday, 22 Sep at Theatre La Cigalle (Paris), honouring the artistic achievements of five internationally acclaimed hairstylists: Jean Claude Aubry (France), Mahogany (UK), Tom Kroboth (Germany), Sanrizz (UK) and Mikel Luzea (Spain). Hosted by Roberto Pissimiglia, President of the AIPP (Association Internationale Presse Professionnelle Coiffure), the 11th annual event was presented on stage prior to the Tribu-te Show, a great hairstyling event that assembled an international audience made of hundreds of hair professionals [a full photographic report of the show will be send to you later this week]. "The Awards Ceremony is an expression of the purpose of the AIPP – confirming the importance of the professional trade press to the hairdressers all over the world", said Roberto Pissimiglia.
This way, the AIPP Awards’ 5 Categories recognised again this year outstanding achievement by professional hairdressers in photography and presentation of their work: Jean Claude Aubry (France) won the Best Commercial Award for his collection made of styles easy to wear and simple to re-style; Tom Kroboth (Germany) grabbed the Best Avant-Garde Award for a futuristic collection researching new and original ideas; Mahogany (UK) achieved the Best Photography Award for a collection composed of the best pictures from the point of view of originality and attention to detail; Sanrizz (UK) won the Best Men Award for their collection of new and stunning male styles; and Mikel Luzea (Spain) conquered the Best Press Pack Award for his novelty in work presentation and for the standard of the press release accompanying it. All of the winners were present in the Ceremony to get their awards personally, except Tony Rizzo (Sanrizz) who was unable to attend due to professional duties. On his behalf, his friend Mark Hayes (Vidal Sassoon, International Artistic Director) took the Sanrizz Award.
Award recipients were voted by the AIPP Magazine Members throughout the world during last month; this year there was a new participation record, having received 187 collections from 25 countries from around the globe. Now it’s time to start the race for the AIPP Grand Trophy 2007-2008, where the 5 winners of the AIPP Awards compete against each other to become the over-all winner, by sending their Fall-Winter Collections. The AIPP Grand Trophy 2007-2008 is going to be awarded in Cosmoprof Bologna (10-14 April 2008).
