Paris celebrates the 2008-2009 AIPP Awards Winners!

Paris, 18 September 2007 --- The 2008-2009 AIPP Awards Ceremony was held on Saturday, 13 Sep at Theatre La Cigale (Paris), honouring the artistic achievements of four internationally acclaimed hairstylists: Claude Tarantino (France), X-Presion (Spain), Thomas-Armin Mathes from Tom Co. (Germany) and Petra Mechurova (Czech Republic). Hosted by Roberto Pissimiglia, President of the AIPP (Association Internationale Presse Professionnelle Coiffure) and Mike Vincent, AIPP Awards Founder, the 12th annual event was presented on stage prior to the Tribu-te Show, a great hairstyling event that assembled an international audience made of hundreds of hair professionals. "The AIPP Awards –the world's most renowned awards in the hairdressing industry– is an expression of the purpose of the AIPP, confirming the importance of the professional trade press to the hairdressers all over the world", said Roberto Pissimiglia.

This way, the AIPP Awards’ 4 Categories recognised again this year outstanding achievement by professional hairdressers in photography and presentation of their work: Claude Tarantino (France) won the Best Commercial Award for his collection made of styles easy to wear and simple to re-style; X-Presion (Spain) grabbed the Best Avant-Garde Award for a futuristic collection researching new and original ideas; Thomas-Armin Mathes from Tom Co. (Germany) achieved the Best Photography Award for a collection composed of the best pictures from the point of view of originality and attention to detail; and Petra Mechurova (Czech Republic) won the Best Men Award for their collection of new and stunning male styles. All of the winners were present in the Ceremony to get their awards personally: they showed to be really thrilled and touched by the emotion when receiving their awards in front of the cheering audience of La Cigale.

Award recipients were voted by the AIPP Magazine Members throughout the world during last month; this year there was a new participation record, having received 258 collections from 23 countries from around the globe. Now it’s time to start the race for the AIPP Grand Trophy 2008-2009, where the 4 winners of the AIPP Awards compete against each other to become the over-all winner, by sending their Fall-Winter Collections. The AIPP Grand Trophy 2008-2009 is going to be awarded in Cosmoprof Bologna (3-6 April 2009).

More than this, in Cosmoprof 2009 the AIPP will also award the winner of the brand new category, Best Video – considering the superb promotional videos that more and more hairdressers are developing each year, we ask for a video/clip no longer than 3 minutes promoting a hairdresser/hair fashion collection (not technical or step-by-step video). As for this new category, the AIPP Jury Commitee decided to postpone the votation until Cosmoprof 2009, so the deadline to get more entries is December 31, 2008.
